It has been so long since I last wrote a travel post! I honestly can’t believe I am just now getting around to writing this one. I have shared previously about our trip to Ireland, but today I am going to tell you about my favorite spot! Traveling to Ireland was a dream come true and standing on the edge of the Cliffs of Moher, was the pinnacle of the entire experience. I can’t let these memories slip through the cracks, without getting them down in a blog post.
So, let’s go on an adventure…

Journey to the Cliffs of Moher
If you are staying in Dublin, like we were, the easiest way to get to the Cliffs of Moher, is to book a tour. They are on the opposite side of the island, in County Clare. It is a long drive, at around 3 hours, but thankfully, we were on a very comfortable bus. The tour lasted the entire day and we stopped at a few other spots, in addition to the Cliffs. Also, the views that you get to see, on the way there, are pretty spectacular.

Our tour bus parked in a small lot, near the visitors center, but our journey was not over yet. In order to get the best view, you have to hike to the top. The amazing views are so worth it!
On the way to the top, we came to a point where the trail goes right along the edge of the cliffs. At the entrance, there are some scary signs that warn of imminent danger. Basically, you shouldn’t be hanging close to the edge, taking selfies. Let’s use a little common sense. There were also a lot of hair ties and pony tail holders tied to the fence, at this spot. I’m not really sure why, but I joined in on the fun and added mine!
The View from the Top of the Cliffs of Moher
This was a bucket list item for me, so I’m going to start reminiscing as I type this. I had seen photos and I thought I had an idea of what to expect, but honestly photos don’t do it justice. I will share what I have, but to understand the experience you have to imagine the wind coming off of the massive, expanse of sea. You have to hear the crashing waves and the Puffin birds. You have to feel the sun on your face. It’s breathtaking.
The View from the Bottom of the Cliffs of Moher
Because we were blessed with beautiful weather on the day of our trip, our tour guide suggested we take the ferry to the bottom of the cliffs. Of course, our group jumped at the chance for another adventure! It was an unplanned and unexpected activity, but I am so glad we were able to do it. The waves were massive and they pushed the ferry around quite a bit, the closer we got to the cliffs. It’s crazy to see them from the bottom looking up.
If you are planning a trip to Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher are an absolute MUST. You won’t regret it. Even if it takes an entire day of your stay, like it did ours, it is totally worth it!
Until next time!
Much Love,
