For this edition of "Make-it Monday" I will be showing you how to make an adorable Easter-themed craft that my mom taught me how to make when I was a kid. It's super simple and is the perfect addition to an Easter Basket!
Boo Boo Bunny
You might have seen these cute bunnies around before. Some times they are referred to as "dishcloth bunnies", but in my family, we have always called them "boo boo bunnies", because you can fit an ice cube in their back and use them to make your boo boos feel better.
Thin dishcloth (your color preference)
Ribbon (your color preference)
Craft Glue or Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Black and Pink Sharpies (I prefer ultra fine tip for the black)
Scissors (not pictured)
You want to start by cutting ALL of the tags off of your dishcloth. They will only get in the way later so clip those suckers off.
After the tags are gone, lay your dishcloth out flat on the table. Next, fold two of the corners together as evenly as possible to form a triangle shape as shown below.
The next thing you want to do is start rolling the dishcloth back starting at the tip of triangle and working your way down to the base. This is demonstrated in the two photos below.
Now you need to fold your dishcloth roll in half, making sure that the seam you created stays on the inside and that your ends meet up. The "loop" that you form on the back will be the body of the bunny and the two floppy ends will end up forming the ears, so make sure they are close to even in length.
The next part is tricky to describe, but you need to fold the "ears" (the two loose ends) back over the "body" (the loop). This will mold your bunny into its final shape. So you should have a head, body, and ears now.
This is where your rubber band comes in. You need to wrap it around (2-3 times) the "head" of your bunny. The rubber band will go where your fingers are now, holding the shape together. Once your rubber band is secured, go ahead and cut a strand of ribbon. It will be going around the bunny's neck (to cover the rubber band). Make the piece long enough so that you will be able to tie a sweet little bow with it. If it's too long you can always trim it after your bow is tied.
We are in the home stretch now! Time to break out your markers. Using a pink Sharpie or other marker, draw an upside down triangle shape in the middle of the head. This is your bunny nose. Now take your black Sharpie (ultra fine tip makes this part easier and not as messy), and create two dots for eyes. You can stop with that or you can make a mouth and little whiskers as well. It should look similar to the picture below.
The last step is to take a cotton ball and use your hot glue gun or craft glue to stick it on your bunny's booty. Give adequate time to dry.
That's it, Krafters! You now have a cute DIY gift to add to your child's Easter Basket or to give out to your grown up gal pals. What girl doesn't want to ice there boo boo's with something this adorable?!
